Lyrics

I work so hard, tryna open every door
Search near and far, turning over every stone
I close my eyes, instead I find no rest
No rest for a restless heart

All I’ve been chasing, putting my faith in
Let it fade, let it break into pieces

Just give me Jesus (Jesus)
Just give me Jesus (Jesus)
There’s nothing I desire (I desire)
That can’t be found in You (found in You)
You’re everything that I’ve ever needed
Just give me Jesus (oh-ohh, oh-oh-ohhh)

Take all my pride, my dreams, my plans
This house I’ve built, on troubled sand
If I gained the world, it would never be
It could never be enough

Just give me Jesus (Jesus)
Just give me Jesus (Jesus)
There’s nothing I desire (I desire)
That can’t be found in You (found in You)
You’re everything that I’ve ever needed
Just give me Jesus (Jesus)
Oh, just give me Jesus (Jesus)

All of my searching, trying to be perfect
All the fears, all the lies I believed in
All I’ve been chasing, putting my faith in
Let it fade, let it fall into pieces
Yeah-yeahh!

And just give me Jesus
You are life, You are hope
Just give me Jesus
You are love, You are all that I want
There’s nothing I desire (I desire)
That can’t be found in You (found in You)
You’re everything that I’ve ever needed
Just give me Jesus (Jesus)
Just give me Jesus (Jesus)
There’s nothing I desire (I desire)
That can’t be found in You (found in You)
You’re everything that I’ve ever needed
Just give me Jesus
Just give me Jesus

About This Song

a few notes from Joe B., Music Director

“God gives good gifts to His children. That’s who He is. But we have to remember that He’s the greatest gift of all.” - Chad Mattson (lead singer)

This song came out of a season when Chad was chasing after the things that God could do for him and the things He could do for God. He says he began to feel more like an employee than a son. So much of us struggle with that. When our focus gets off Him, we can begin to focus more on what we don’t have, or what we don’t have yet. This leads to discontentment.

And according to Angus Deacon, Princeton University Economist (Who won the Nobel Prize in economic sciences last year). Americans’ discontent is off the charts. As a result we are more unhappy than we’ve been in years and Social Media is a big catalyst. “...keeping up with the Jones's is tougher now because of sites like Facebook.” Putting our focus back on Jesus helps bring us back to a place of gratefulness. I believe this song will help Lisa do just that. And I also believe she will love it! Unspoken has this uncanny way of giving us songs that sound unique and yet still unmistakably Unspoken. To me, this song is no different, except that it represents a maturing that has seen them definitely turn a corner from their previous work.
